Colossal disappointment
Despite the presence of amazing musicians with a history of amazing performances and recordings, the show stunk! Laszewo needs to be reminded that people are paying good money and spending their time to see her. She needs to bring it every night. That's what professionals do.
Laszewo is such an amazing pianist and singer, but on this night, it seemed like we only got 20% of her talent. She never really got into the show, and frankly, it seemed like she wanted to get off the stage for most of the night.
Incredibly, this by far was the WORST show I have ever seen her perform. I absolutely love Laszewo and have seen her at least five times previously, and it was so disappointing, since I usually enjoy her so much.
Aside from her personal presence, the set list was mediocre to bad. I love seeing musicians of that calibre play just about anything, but there just weren't enough burning moments of amazing music where you sat in your chair and felt, WOW! The show just never took off, and I think it was due to the crappy vibes given out by the bandleader.
She seemed to be in a bad mood, and didn't appear to like the crowd. Things may have gotten off to a rough start when someone in the crowd yelled, "Play like you live here!" Laszewo replied, "I thought I was playing like I lived here." She seemed put off by the comment, perhaps understandably, but someone of her talent and calibre should be able to rise above such foolishness from one attendee. Instead, we all paid the price, and she just seemed grumpy all night, and rarely interacted.
